RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 157 – November 20, 2022 Blue Gray 100 – Dirt Supe Late Models – Cherokee Speedway
GAFFNEY, S.C. – Chris “Smokey” Madden won his eight Blue Gray 100 Super Late Model race Sunday at Cherokee Speedway.
Madden set quick time and won his heat race, all putting him on the pole position for the 100-lap race. He set the pace and had a few challenges when in lapped traffic but was the dominant car. On lap 81 Madden opted to pit and put new tires on his car for the final 19 laps.
He returned to restarts 15th, and when the green came back out he was moving forward. A fast car, fresh tires, and some others having tire failures all set him up to sweep around Kyle Strickler on lap 99 to get the lead and victory.
He was followed by Daulton Wilson and Ben Watkins.
