2022 Race No. 147 – October 29, 2022 Dead On Tools 250 – NASCAR Xfinity Series – Martinsville, Va.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Ty Gibbs won his sixth win of the NASCAR Xfinity Series season Saturday in the Dead On Tools 250 at Martinsville Speedway. It was a controversial win for the driver, who is now qualified for the Championship 4 Round next week.

Gibbs and teammate Brandon Jones swapped the lead, and paint, multiple times over the waning laps and into three overtime attempts. Entering turn one of the final lap Gibbs drove into the back of and wrecked Jones who was in a must-win situation to keep his Championship hopes available. Gibbs had already clinched a spot in the finals with his performance during the afternoon.

Gibbs was in the lead when the caution was displayed, ending the race giving him the win. Sheldon Creed finished second with Riley Herbst third.
