RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 138 – October 9, 2022 Bank of America ROVAL 400 – NASCAR Cup Series – Charlotte Motor Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. – Christopher Bell turned in a clutch performance to win Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course. It was a “must win” situation for him, to transfer to the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Playoffs.

Bell was a solid top-10 car throughout the race, but a late race caution produced an opportunity for him and chaos for the field. Bell pitted on lap 107 (of the schedule 109) for fresh tires and restarted 12th. He quickly hustled past some spinning cars and around others to second when a final caution sent the race into overtime.

On that final restart he was able to drive around leader Kevin Harvick and pull away for the victory. It was his third career series win and second of the season. Harvick finished second with Kyle Busch third.
