RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 117: September 3, 2022 SportsClips Haircuts VFW Help A Hero 200 – NASCAR Xfinity Series – Darlington Raceway

DARLINGTON, S.C. – Noah Gragson won a thriller Saturday in the SportsClips Haircuts VFW Help A Hero 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at historic Darlington Raceway. It was his fourth win of the season.

The final four laps of the 147-lap race turned into the three-car tussle between Gragson, Sheldon Creed and Kyle Larson. Creed, racing for his career-first series win and a playoff berth, was the pacesetter with Gragson and Larson in pursuit.

Larson took second from Gragson on lap 144 and got alongside Creed as they raced into turn one on the final circuit. The cars were bouncing off each other with Creed’s car which was also off bouncing off the outside wall. Creed got the upper hand off the second corner, with Gragson getting a run into second on Larson.

Into turn three Gragson dove to the inside, Creed, with a flat right front tire, literally road the wall all the way thought the final two turns. Gragson got the better run off turn four and a few hundred yards from the end secured the advantage and the win.

Creed held on for second with A.J. Allmendinger sneaking through for third. Larson settled for fifth.
