DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Austin Dillon won Sunday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway. It was his fourth career victory, and first of 2022 locking him into the NASCAR Playoffs.

The turning point in the race for Dillon was a major crash on lap 137 that he was able to navigate through first, giving him a spot at the front of the field. Prior to that he had been involved in a couple of skirmishes and was even at one point a lap down.

The lap 137 crash occurred when rain hit causing a red-flag period of more than three hours. Once back to green flag racing Austin Cindric set the pace with Dillon pursuiting, On lap 158 of 160 Dillon tapped Cindric just enough to cause a bobble, giving Dillon the advantage.

He led the final two laps to score the victory. His teammate Tyler Reddick finished second with Cindric third. The win was Dillon’s second win at Daytona, as he is the 2018 Daytona 500 Champion.
