RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 111: August 21, 2022 Go Bowling at The Glen – NASCAR Cup Series – Watkins Glen International

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Kyle Larson won Sunday’s Go Bowling at the Glen NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International. It was his second series win of the season and paired with Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series win gave him a weekend sweep in Upstate New York.

Chase Elliott had the dominant car and looked poised to continue his mastery of road racing, when a caution on lap 84 of the 90-lap race. On the restart Larson got the advantage into turn one, slip up as he exited the 90-degree corner into the top spot.

A.J. Allmendinger was able to follow Larson through and trailed the reigning Champion for the balance of the race but never was able to offer a challenge. Joey Logano also got past Elliott on the restart and finished third. Elliott settled for a disappointing fourth-place finish.

Larson was also the winner of last year’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen.
