RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 109: August 19, 2022 ARCA Menards Series – General Tire Delivers 100 – Watkins Glen International
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Brandon Jones won Friday’s General Tire Delivers 100 ARCA Menards Series race at Watkins Glen International. It was his third series win of the season.
The race was dominated by Sammy Smith who led 39 of the 41 laps. A late race caution bunched the field up for a one-lap run to the finish with Smith and Taylor Gray on the front row. Jones lined up third.
As the field raced into turn one the front row cars got together and slid up the track, allowing Jones to shoot to the inside and into the lead. He held the top spot to the finish scoring his first ever road course win.
Nick Sanchez also was able to race past Smith and Gray into turn one to finish second. Similarly Jesse Love advanced to third on the final lap. Smith and Gray finish fifth and third respectively.
