RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 107: August 15, 2022 Wednesday Night Racing – Millbridge Speedway
SALISBURY, N.C. – Chase Cabre picked up his first win of the 2022 season Wednesday in the 25-lap Winged 600 Micro feature at Millbridge Speedway. It was his fourth start of the year at the track.
The front row for the Micro feature featured the girlfriend/boyfriend combination of Hailie Deegan and Cabre, with Cabre getting the jump at the start. He led the full distance but had a close call on lap 21 in heavy lapped traffic when D.J. Vanderley got past only to have a caution flag nullify the pass.
With a clean open track, Cabre was able to control the rest of the race to the victory. Vanderley settled for second with Christopher Bell third. Deegan suffered mechanical problems and watched from the sidelines.
The 20-lap Legends feature was a thriller with Willie Ridenhour getting the win after a final two lap back and forth with Ryan Zima. It was not only his first win of the season, but his first start of the year.
In Outlaw Kart racing Coen McDaniel won the 15-lap Open feature with Katie Yonchuk getting the win in the 15-lap Intermediate main.
