RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 100 – August 6, 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series/ARCA Menards Series – Michigan International Speedway

BROOKLYN, Mich. – Ty Gibbs won the New Holland 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race and Nick Sanchez was the winner in the Henry Ford Health 200 ARCA Menards Series race Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.

Gibbs started ninth and slowly moved forward over the early portion of the race 125-lap race. He lead 38 laps in the middle of the race before pit strategy put him back in the field as the second stage ended. Gibbs was stout in the final stage of the race, took the lead with 16 laps remaining and never looked back.

It was his Series-best fifth victory of the season and ninth of his career. Justin Allgaier finished second with Noah Gragson third.

In the 100-lap ARCA race Sanchez won a thriller. The final 25 laps had four lead changes among three drivers. Sanchez took command for the final time on lap 89 and played defense the rest of the way to the win. It was his third career victory, all this season. Cory Heim and Daniel Dye completed the top three.
