RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No 94: July 23, 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – Pocono Raceway
LONG POND, Pa. – Noah Gragson won the Explore the Pocono Mountains 225 NASCAR Xfinity Series race and Chandler Smith won the CRC Brakleen 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race Saturday at Pocono Raceway.
Gragson started the 90-lap Xfinity Series race ninth and methodically worked forward to the lead by lap 26. From there he was the dominant car yielding the top spot with pit sequencing, but ultimately getting back to the point each time. He took the lead for the final time on lap 69 but spent the final laps fending off a strong challenge from Ty Gibbs.
Gragson was up the challenge and scored his third win of the season and ninth of his career. Gibbs finished second with Josh Berry finishing third.
Chandler Smith jumped from the second starting spot to lead the first 27 laps of the 60 lap Truck Series event. He gave up the top spot in the middle of the event but quickly established command for the final 14 laps to roll to victory.
It was Smith’s fourth career victory and second of the season. Ryan Preece and John Hunter Nemechek completed the podium finishers.
