2022 Race No. 86 – July 5, 2022 Cook Out Summer Shootout – Legends/Bandoleros – Charlotte Motor Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. – Conner Zilisch picked up the victory in the VP Racing Legends Semi-Pro Feature at Charlotte Motor Speedway for round five of the Cook Out Summer Shootout. Joel Smith was the winner of the 25-lap Legends Young Lions Feature.

Trevor Wester jumped from the pole position to the lead at the start of the Semi-Pro feature. Zilisch, who earlier in the evening set quick time, hustled from fifth to battle for the lead and as the race hit the mid-point. On lap 13 he was able to move into the top spot for good.

The race ultimately would be halted on lap 19, or 25, for lightning and then rain. When called complete it was the second win of the season for Zilisch. Lucas Vera and Wester completed the top three.

Smith was stout in the Young Lions feature scoring the victory after leading flag-to-flag. It was his second win of the season. Ethan Nascimento and George Phillips completed the top three.

Bandolero winners were Kaeden Ballos in Outlaws, Darren Krantz Jr in Bandits and Wyatt Coffey in Beginner Bandits.
