2022 Race No. 72 – June 5, 2022 NASCAR Cup Series – Enjoy Illinois 300 – World Wide Technology Raceway

MADISON, Ill. – Joey Logano bested Kyle Busch in an overtime thriller Sunday in the inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 NASCAR Cup Series Race at World Wide Technology Raceway. It was his 29th career victory and second of the season.

In front of a packed grandstand, front row starters Chase Briscoe and Austin Cindric lead the first 53 laps. Martin Truex Jr, Michael McDowell, Kyle Busch and Logano all took turns at the front over the course of the event. Busch was the leader in the waning laps when on lap 236, of the scheduled 240, the final caution set up the overtime finish.

Busch and Logano started side-by-side and swapped the lead on the initial lap of the green-white-checkered run. Busch slid wide exiting turn four, coming to the white flag, giving Logano the lead and advantage he needed to sail to victory.

Kyle Busch finished second with his older brother Kurt Busch third.
