2022 Race No. 34: Saturday, April 9, 2022 NASCAR Cup Series – Martinsville Speedway

William Byron became the season’s first two-time winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, winning the Blu-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 at Martinsville Speedway. His previous win was in March at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Hendrick Chevys dominated the race; the first half it was Chase Elliott, the second half Byron. Elliott led the first 185 laps with Byron leading 212 of the final 218 laps. And yet with the domination it came down to Byron having to survive an overtime green-white-checkered finish to grab the win. Joey Logano finished second with Austin Dillon third.

The win was Byron’s second of the weekend at Martinsville as he won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Thursday night.
