2022 Race No. 19 – Sunday, March 13, 2022 NASCAR Cup Series – Ruoff Mortgage 500 – Phoenix Raceway
Chase Briscoe held off the field in three late race restarts to win his career-first NASCAR Cup Series victory in the Ruoff Mortgage 500 at Phoenix Raceway. He became the 200th driver to win a Cup Series race and did it in his 40th career start.
Making the finish even more dramatic was that his two closest rivals on the late race restarts were Ross Chastain and Tyler Reddick – two drivers also racing for career-first wins. Briscoe’s win was a total team effort; he had a strong car leading 101 laps and his crew won the race off pit road on the final stop 23 laps from the end.
Chastain and Reddick finished second and third with Ryan Blaney and Kurt Busch completing the top five.
