2022 Race No. 16 – Sunday, March 6, 2022 Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series Super Late Models – Cherokee Speedway, Gaffney, S.C.

The 19th Annual March Madness for the super late models drew a field of 23 cars for the $10,000-to-win top prize. The field was solid with talent as tends to be the case with super late models at “The Place Your Mama Warned You About”.

The sunshine and light breeze made the track narrow that along with Chris Furguson earning the pole position made it a one-man-show for much of the 50-lap distance. The track took its toll and on lap 47 Furguson suffered a flat tire handing the lead to Chris Madden. A final pair of restarts had Brandon Overton and Mike Marlar pretty good opportunities, but in the end, Madden held on for his 4th March Madness win. Marlar and Jonathan Davenport completed the podium.
